2016 Wier Grant Awarded to Brendan Boyer

ABF is excited to announce that our 2016 Howie Wier Memorial Conservation Grants has been awarded to San Diego State University Master's student Brendan Boyer, who received $2,500 to support his project titled, Using landscape genomics to compare patterns of diversification in desert oasis populations of the jumping spider Habronattus tarsalis (Salticidae).

Brendan's project will compare patterns of diversification in Habronatus tarsalis jumping spider populations found in desert oases throughout southwestern North America.  Desert populations are expected to show high levels of divergence due to fragmentation that has resulted from of past geological and climatological events.
