ABDSP Interpretive Activities

Sunday, March 25, 2018 - 9:30am

ABDSP Interpretive Activities are Free and Open to the Public. All programs meet in front of the ABDSP Visitor Center unless otherwise stated.

9:30 a.m. Walk – What Plants Tell Us 1 Hour
Join Park Interpretive Specialist Regina Reiter for a creative way to engage with the desert plants. Have you been drawn to a certain plant or felt a sense that an Ocotillo tells you something different than a Brittlebush? Sit with the plants and learn beginning steps of an ancient art of “listening” to the plants. Bring a folding chair, sun hat, drinking water, and a notebook.

11:00 a.m. Talk - What Gives Ravens Their Star Quality? 45 Minutes
Enjoy finding out how the intelligence and personalities of ravens have inspired their starring role in myths and legends around the world. With Volunteer Naturalist Karen DeLorenzo you will discover a new way to look at these mischievous – and maybe even wise – birds.

1:00 p.m. Walk - Those Amazing Desert Plants! 1 Hour
Explore the Visitor Center garden with Park Interpreter Sally Theriault and discover some of the unique strategies that help plants survive here. Meet in front of the Visitor Center.
