ABDSP Interpretive Activities

All activities meet in front of the ABDSP Visitor Center unless otherwise specified.

8:00 a.m. Hike – Mine Canyon Hike                                                                                            5.5 Hours
Join volunteer naturalist Ann Keenan and Celeste Doughty for a moderate 5 mile round trip exploratory hike in Mine Canyon. There are a few dry waterfalls to negotiate at the beginning of the route. Bring water and lunch. Wear hiking shoes. This hike is limited to 10 people. Please sign up at the Visitor Center. Meet at 8:00 a.m. in the upper parking lot of the Visitor Center to carpool.
9:00 a.m. Walk – Spring Plant Walk                                                                2 Hours
Enjoy and learn about the ingenuity of our SURVIVAL EXPERTS--OUR AMAZING DESERT PLANTS! Meet knowledgeable members of the Park's Botany Society for an easy morning stroll somewhere in the Park. Leaders and destinations will vary. Bring water, sun protection, and sturdy shoes. Note:  Check with the ABF Store or the State Park Visitor Center for additional dates.  No reservation needed; meet at State Park Store, (587 Palm Canyon Drive, next to ABF office).

1:00 p.m. Garden Walk   - Small World                                                      1 Hour
Everyone is impressed with the vast dimensions and stunning vistas of Anza Borrego Desert State Park.  The desert is equally impressive on a micro-scale.  Stretch your perspective and explore the natural history of the Park up close and personal with Volunteer Naturalist Daniel Hellyer for a
1-hour easy walk.  Meet at the Visitor Center.
