Anza-Borrego Foundation Announces Plans to Move Office, Open Storefront

Borrego Springs, CA - Anza-Borrego Foundation President Ray Mouton announced today plans for the nonprofit foundation to move its offices, by October 1, from two suites upstairs in The Mall to two Palm-Canyon-Drive-fronting suites in The Mall. The expanded space downstairs and facing the main thoroughfare also will provide for retail space. Better visibility for tourists, retail sales space and a complementary year-‘round-operating annex for the State Park’s Visitor Center are all key priority goals of ABF’s Strategic Plan.

ABF Executive Director Linda Tandle, says, “As the sole supporting organization for Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Anza-Borrego Foundation wants to elevate its assistance by providing merchandise, tourist information and educational outreach at a time when the State Park faces mandated furloughs and shortened seasonal hours of operation at the Park Visitor Center.”

The new retail, information and office space will be more accessible and visible to Borrego Springs visitors as well as residents who want information about the Park and the educational programming offered by ABF’s Institute. A more central location to obtain and renew ABF memberships, get trail maps and sign up for popular classes will be possible after the move. Ms. Tandle added, “We’ve been a bit hidden in the back and second-story of The Mall – this move will have so many advantages for visitors to the Park and our members and donors.”

A lease for the two suites, formerly occupied by The Borrego Goldsmith and the Sheriff’s Department, has been signed with Cameron Brothers Construction Co., L.P.
