Via 1-8
Going East on 1-8 take the Highway 67 off-ramp north to Ramona, Go through Ramona to Santa Ysabel. Turn LEFT on Highway 79. Travel approximately 10 miles to Highway S-2 (sign for "Borrego Springs - 24 miles"). Turn RIGHT on Highway S-2 and travel approximately 5 miles to Highway S-22 (second sign for Borrego Springs). Turn LEFT on Highway S-22. Highway S-22 will take you through the small town of Ranchita and down a 12 mile 8% grade. At the STOP SIGN turn LEFT for ABDSP Visitor Center & Borrego Palm Canyon Campground.
Via 163 & 1-15
Going NORTH on I-15 take the Poway off-ramp (Highway S-4). Continue on S-4 through Poway to the end, the stop light at Highway 67. Turn LEFT on 67. Go through Ramona to Santa Ysabel. Turn LEFT on Highway 79. Travel approximately 10 miles to Highway S-2 (sign for "Borrego Springs - 24 miles"). Turn RIGHT on Highway S-2 and travel approximately 5 miles to Highway S-22 (second sign for Borrego Springs). Turn LEFT on Highway S-22. Highway S-22 will take you through the small town of Ranchita and down a 12 mile 8% grade. At the STOP SIGN turn LEFT for ABDSP Visitor Center & Borrego Palm Canyon Campground.

Travel South to Temecula. Take the Indio Warner Springs off-ramp Highway 79). Approximately 5 miles past Warner Springs Turn LEFT on Highway S-2 and travel approximately 5 miles to Highway S-22 (sign for Borrego Springs). Turn LEFT on Highway S-22. Highway S-22 will take you through the small town of Ranchita and down a 12 mile 8% grade. At the STOP SIGN turn LEFT for ABDSP Visitor Center & Borrego Palm Canyon Campground. From Temecula, travel time is approximately 1.5 hours
Via I- 5
Travel SOUTH on 1-5 to Oceanside. Take the Mission Avenue off-ramp (Highway 76). Turn LEFT and travel EAST on Highway 76. Continue on Highway 76 for 69 miles. At the end of Highway 76 turn LEFT onto Highway 79 and continue on for about 5 miles to S-2. Turn RIGHT on S-2. Travel approximately 5 miles to Highway S-22 (second sign for Borrego Springs). Turn LEFT on Highway S-22. Highway S-22 will take you through the small town of Ranchita and down a 12 mile 8% grade. At the STOP SIGN turn LEFT for ABDSP Visitor Center & Borrego Palm Canyon Campground.
You can use this detour if you would like to avoid Montezuma’s Grade: At the S-22 turn off, instead of turning, proceed on S-2 until you reach the stop sign at 78. Turn LEFT onto 78 and travel to S-3 (Yaqui Pass Road). Turn LEFT on S-3 and follow the signs to STATE PARK HEADQUARTERS.
