Location:
ABDSP Visitor Center Discovery Lab

Instructor: Dennis Mammana
$45 / $35 for ABF members

Learn the basics of using your camera to capture amazing celestial portraits of the desert night sky. After a few hours of classroom instruction by Dennis Mammana, an astronomer and professional photographer/instructor (DennisMammana.com) and a dinner break (several good restaurants are nearby), you'll return to the Visitor Center where Dennis will help you practice shooting the heavens. Who knows? Maybe your efforts will yield a winning image to enter in our new category ("The Desert at Night") in this year's photo contest!

Students should bring a camera (digital or film) that can be adjusted manually and can take time exposures, a tripod, a remote control or cable release, their camera user manual, and a flashlight with a red lens or covered with red cellophane. Please have a good working knowledge of your equipment.
