Sights that boggle the mind are visible in the clear, dark desert skies each evening. This full-day workshop is designed for beginning stargazers interested in exploring the enjoyable and mind-expanding hobby of amateur astronomy.

During the afternoon we'll explore many of the celestial phenomena visible in our nighttime sky, and gain an understanding of how they work.  After a dinner break--bring a picnic or visit a terrific local restaurant--we'll return to the Visitor Center to practice finding your way around the night sky and to view some of its wonders through a telescope (weather permitting).

Students should bring plenty of water, a flashlight covered with red cellophane, binoculars or small telescope, a folding chair, warm clothing, and anything else that might make you comfortable.  Pre-registration required.
