On either side of the Borrego-Salton Seaway, the excitement of geologic forces at work here is ever-changing, revealing an untamed basin-and-range setting unlike any in southern California. The area is one of the most seismic regions in California, and features one of the youngest and best preserved fossil basins in North America. A visit to Font's Point will present a powerful case for deciphering Anza-Borrego's dynamic geology. This auto tour, with about five planned stops and short hikes, is a must for the geology aficionado. Bring adequate water, lunch, and a camera. 4WD vehicles are required. Meet in the Visitor Center parking lot at 8:30 am for this all-day tour.
