This hike was originally part of Archaeology Weekend

We will be hiking across the desert floor, in an out of wash bottoms to the Clark Lake Petroglyph site, approximately 3-miles round trip of moderate difficulty. The site lies at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains just east of the mouth of Rockhouse Canyon. The petroglyphs, interpreted as an early Cahuilla type, were pecked into the reddish-brown desert varnish which covers the boulders in this area. Other significant features are located nearby.
