WEIRD LAND FORMATIONS

Part 2 of a 3-Part Series

Leader: Paul Johnson
$45 / $35 for ABF Members

While mud caves and slot canyons are found in similar terrain (sedimentary deposits), they are created in totally different ways. On this four-wheel-drive trip, we will hike to one of Anza-Borrego's most impressive slot canyons near the Calcite Mine, then drive south on Arroyo Salado to experience a few of the classic mud caves of the Borrego Badlands. The hike is approximately 3 miles roundtrip along a rough rocky road involving several long uphill sections.

Bring lunch, plenty of water, a flashlight, camera, etc. Total driving distance is about 50 miles. Hiking Level 3
