Smoketree Canyon is aptly named, but many other kinds of shrubs are found there too. Join Volunteer Naturalists Ted Caragozian and Paul Larson for a six-mile round trip hike up this beautiful canyon that includes a 15-20 foot high dry waterfall. Our goal is the natural rock tanks, or tinajas, that usually hold water for wildlife, including bighorn sheep.
Meet at the Visitor Center (third parking lot) at 9 am for carpooling. Bring lunch, water, snacks, sturdy hiking boots and sun protection. This is a strenuous hike of approximately 6 miles that involves some rock scrambling.
