The art of "photographic seeing" is the ability to recognize a unique combination of light and subject matter, and then to compose and successfully capture it using whatever camera you happen to have. No matter how much you know about the technical aspects of photography - or how expensive, new, old or cheap your equipment is - this single most important element of great photographs is not something you can easily learn out of a book.

This one-day workshop will help you find the elusive combination of light and subject. We will take short walks in a variety of desert settings and terrain in hopes of perfecting your "photographic seeing" to create a great photograph.

Participants may bring whatever camera they like to use, however, the maximum benefit will be received through using an interchangeable-lens, adjustable camera, whether digital or film. If available, bring a tripod and whatever lenses you like to carry.

Be prepared for 3 or 4 walks of a half mile or so, with slow walking and lots of stops to examine and discuss the elements of a great photograph. 4WD not required.
