Friday, March 26: 6 to 9 p.m. at Calumet Photographic in San Diego
Saturday, March 27: Meet at Calumet at 5 a.m. and we will head out to the park and shoot until approximately 7 p.m.

Whether you are a novice or a pro and enjoy photographing scenery and natural beauty, this is one event you will not want to miss!

Join Ernie Cowan, author and photographer of “Anza-Borrego: A Photography Journey,” as he takes you on an all-day photo trek in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the largest state park in California. This seminar has more to offer than just the splendor of this beautiful park.

On Friday night, attendees will meet at Calumet (San Diego) for a three-hour seminar on basic and advanced camera controls, elements of composition and the use of lighting. Early Saturday, the group will meet at Calumet and drive to the park where we will shoot in the early morning light at Christmas Circle. After breakfast, we will return to the park for morning and afternoon photography before dinner and conclude at sunset with a spectacular shoot in the Borrego Badlands.

What to Bring
Camera and lenses, tripod, water, lots of memory, filters (if desired), shutter release cable (if desired), sunscreen, sunglasses, and the most important part: good comfortable walking shoes! We will cover this topic Friday evening as well.

Meals
We will head into Borrego Springs for the meals (not included) and there are places to grab snacks to take along. It may be a good idea to pack some light snacks to maintain your energy.

About the Instructor
Ernie Cowan is an author, teacher, outdoor writer and photographer. He recently published “Anza-Borrego: A Photography Journey,” and spends much of his time in the desert southwest or Eastern High Sierra capturing the natural wonders of those areas. Cowan is the co-founder of the Anza-Borrego Institute of Photography, and taught photography for many years at Palomar College. He began his career at a newspaper photographer and was the owner of a photography studio in Escondido for 24 years. His vast experience, passion for nature, sense of humor and teaching ability give him a unique ability to inspire and teach others the joys of photographic art.
