Classical guitarist Michael McCormick, a Borrego Springs resident and loyal ABF member and park supporter, will give a solo guitar recital at Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center.
All proceeds from this event shall be donated to Anza-Borrego Foundation.
Michael received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Performance from the University of Southern California. He has concertized extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Canada both as soloist as well as in chamber settings.
Prior to settling in Borrego Springs in 2009, Michael spent six years in France, each year offering his very own Tour de France, playing his guitar not only in concert halls but in churches, chapels, castles, medieval caves and even village squares.
In the style and spirit of his hero, inspiration and mentor, the legendary Andres Segovia, Michael’s show will unfold for the audience as a musical journey of sorts, around the world, through time and space; as a theater piece in two “acts” and eight “scenes”; as a fine French meal served in multiple courses. The evening’s concert program will feature music by Villa-Lobos, Moreno-Torroba, Carlevaro, Tansman, Mudarra, Saint-Luc, Milán and J.S. Bach.
