Lower Coyote Canyon Mountain Bike Ride

Date:
Thursday, March 12, 2015 - 9:00am to 1:00pm

Leaders: Jim Roller and Gary Haldeman

Gary & Jim are at it again, this time with a ride through Lower Coyote Canyon from the end of the blacktop to Third Crossing and back again. This is going to be a moderate to strenuous 12 miles that will include a 6 mile climb at the start through sand, rocks, and water crossings before we head back down (through the same terrain) for a superb 6 mile ride.

This ride is on the dirt road in Coyote Canyon, but has rocky sections, sandy sections, and voyages through the various crossings of Coyote Creek. You will get at least your feet wet.

The group will be stopping at various highlights along the way, such as the Alcoholic Pass trailhead, Desert Gardens, and Third Crossing at the base of the Bypass Road.

Riders are REQUIRED to adhere to the following:

You must be wearing a helmet at all times

You must have at least one spare tube, and all the tools necessary to fix a flat
Your bike should be a mountain bike with a minimum of 26” x 2” tires (the fatter the better)
You should bring plenty of snacks and more water than you think you will need- there is no  drinking water available in Coyote Canyon

*If you do not come prepared with the above listed items, we reserve the right to turn you away to preserve the safety and enjoyment of the rest of the group.

Meet: At the end of DiGiorgio Road, where the blacktop ends and the dirt road up Coyote Canyon begins.
