ABDSP Interpretive Activities are Free and Open to the Public. All programs meet in front of the ABDSP Visitor Center unless otherwise stated.
9:00 a.m. Walk – Get to Know the Park 1.5 Hours
You’ve just arrived and wonder where you can take an easy walk to get introduced to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Join Interpreter Regina Reiter for a walk on The Connector Trail to get an overview of the desert and what you can experience during your stay. Meet in front of the Visitor Center. Wear long sleeves and a sun hat. Bring a quart of water that you can carry hands-free.
10:00 a.m. Hike - Roving Naturalist in Borrego Palm Canyon (Alternate Trail) 2 Hours
Volunteer Naturalist Aleese Golding will be roaming the Alternate Trail in Borrego Palm Canyon searching for interesting features along the trail. Look for her in her vest. This is not a guided hike.
10:00 a.m. Talk – Petrified Woods of the Anza-Borrego Desert 1 Hour
Thomas Spinks, a State Park Paleontology Society Volunteer who is currently studying the curation of fossil plant materials, will talk about how the fossils are identified. This presentation will be in the Discovery Lab at the Visitor Center in a talk for the State Park Botany Society. The public is welcome, and there is no admission charge.
