Head for the hills! It's going to be warm in ABDSP in May, so join us for a day at Palomar Mountain State Park.
This 6 mile point-to-point route snakes its way through the numerous highlights of Palomar Mountain State Park, including spectacular views at Boucher Hill Lookout Tower, Scotts Cabin, the old apple orchard, Chimney Flat, thickets of Pacific dogwood and western azalea, Thunder Spring, Doane Pond, dense mixed-conifer forest along Doane Valley Nature Trail, spacious Lower Doane Valley, and the Weir before concluding at the Doane Pond parking lot where ice chests of delicious cold beer from Ballast Point will reward our diligence and determination.
Hike Difficulty: Moderate, mostly downhill, but a solid 6 miles.
Bring: Plenty of water, sun protection, snacks, lunch, and whatever else you need to be comfortable in Southern California in summer. The hike leader does recommend pants, as there will be poison oak along parts of the trail.
Meet: At the Doane Pond Parking Lot in Palomar Mt State Park. This hike will require a shuttle, so we do ask for your patience as we work out logistics. We will meet at Doane Valley at 9 a.m., pile into as few cars as possible, and then drive to the start of our hike.

Hikes & Hops and Bikes & Brews with Anza-Borrego Foundation
Good scenery, good beer, good company
Hikes & Hops and Bikes & Brews connect people with two things in common -- a love of Anza-Borrego and craft beer. Hikes & Hops is a social hike series in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, with Bikes & Brews being the same but with mountain and road bike rides, and a series of craft brewery happy hours throughout Southern California. Join us for a hike and a beer, a bike and a brew or let us come to you for a brewery event!
**This event includes the consumption of alcohol. Families with children are welcome if they can keep up with the group or be carried. ABF may request photo ID for any participant who looks 30 and under. Only those over the age of 21 will be allowed to participate in the “hops” portion of the event. Be responsible when drinking. Camping in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is encouraged and there are several hotels in Borrego Springs. At the very least, please visit one of our Borrego Partner restaurants for a good meal before heading home.
Join our MeetUp group for upcoming events.
