ABDSP Interpretive Activities

All activities meet in front of the ABDSP Visitor Center unless otherwise specified.

11:00 a.m. Talk   - Eclipse!                                 45 minutes
Be prepared for tomorrow morning’s Lunar Eclipse, and learn more about Earth’s nearest neighbor, the Moon—why there are phases, eclipses, etc. Meet in the Discovery Lab.
2:00 p.m.  -  Junior Rangers: Eclipse!                             45 Minutes
Special program for children ages 7-12.  Discover secrets of the desert environment.  Sign up at the Visitor Center as space is limited.
3:00 p.m. Talk   – Eclipse!                                 45 minutes

4:00 p.m. Talk   - Moon Features Come Alive                                   45 Minutes
Have you wondered what the “Man in the Moon” really is? Join Park Interpretive Specialist Regina Reiter for this interactive program to discern the features of the Moon in preparation for tonight’s Moon Viewing. Meet in the Visitor Center Discovery Lab.
7:30 p.m. Talk   - Moon Viewing                                                1.5 Hours
Meet Park Interpretive Specialist Regina Reiter on the roof of the Visitor Center to view the moon through binoculars and telescope. We’ll pick out the various features of the moon’s face. If time and interest permits, we’ll tour other night-sky objects. Bring binoculars if you have them, and a lawn chair if you like.
