The Uniqueness of San Diego

Sunday, January 17, 2016 - 3:30pm to 5:00pm

Speaker: Philip Pryde, ABF Board Member
Free and open to public (seating limited)
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center (Discovery Lab)

We all live in San Diego County, but how familiar are we with all its unique attributes and fascinating secrets?   For example, did you know that the County used to be almost ten times as big as it is now?  Or that we came very close to permanently drowning most of what are now the communities of El Cajon, Santee, and Lakeside?   Or that we have more Indian Reservations within our county boundaries than any other county in the U.S.?

This entertaining talk is presented by Phil Pryde, who is the editor and primary author of San Diego: An Introduction to the Region, which recently came out in its completely revised 5th Edition, now in full color.  Phil is a professor emeritus at San Diego State University, where he taught courses on environmental policy for 32 years, and is also a past chairman of the San Diego County Planning Commission.
