Capturing Elephants in Riverside Co., CA

Elephants in California?  Absolutely!  These were extinct species excavated by paleontologists during the construction of the Diamond Valley Reservoir, in Riverside County.  James Bowden will share his experiences as one of the paleontologists that collected fossils on this amazing site, which included mammoths, mastodons, saber tooth cats, and many other fascinating animals.  Hear his inside stories, which are not known by the general public, about these fossils, their discovery, their excavation, and their preservation.   Through slides, entertaining stories, and items to view, discover why this collection has been so important and how it affects all of us today!
