Join Dr. Dennis Jenkins, Director of the University of Oregon’s Archaeology Field School and Lead Researcher for the University’s Museum of Natural and Cultural History and guide Roger Riolo on a seven-day cultural adventure through the heart of southern Oregon’s early habitation sites. As we travel through this region, visiting Lake Abert, Paisley Caves, Fort Rock Cave, Carlon Village, the Newberry house site and others, we will immerse ourselves in the land and its pre-contact cultures.

Join earth scientist Paul Remeika on a geologic field excursion through Navajolands along the Arizona-Utah border.
This special adventure highlights the natural wonders of the northern Painted Desert from the south rim of the Grand Canyon to Valley of the Gods near Muley Point, Navajo Blanket, Goosenecks of the San Juan River, and Mexican Hat Rock. Not to be missed are several guided treks into the sacred backcountry of the Navajo to visit ruins left behind by “the ancient ones” within Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley, plus hikes to assorted ruins along Comb Ridge near Bluff, Utah. Float trips on the San Juan River and Colorado River to see rock art are also planned, as well as our famous BBQ at Marble Canyon Lodge. A must-do for anyone interested rocks and cultural resource aficionados.

Join retired ABDSP Superintendent Mark Jorgensen on a two-week tour of the Gobi Desert of Mongolia this summer!
This all-inclusive adventure will introduce you to the distinctive culture, wildlife, and varied terrain of Mongolia, including remote desert landscapes and Mongolia’s bustling capital, Ulaanbaatar.
Tour leader Mark Jorgensen, along with a bilingual guide, will lead you on a variety of hikes and drives that explore the Gobi Desert’s wildlife, history, and current research. Visit grasslands, sand dunes, and steppes habitat.
