Caterpillars -- They have shown up in full force on the first day of spring this year to munch away on the wildflowers.

Swainson's Hawks – This remarkable species migrated through the Borrego Valley this year in record numbers. They sure do love those caterpillars! Visit HawkCount to see the data collected by our devoted Hawk Watch volunteers.

Sheep – Bighorn sheep were a common sight in Borrego Palm Canyon this year. The 2008 Sheep Count takes place July 4-6, so check back in July to see how many are observed.
