Virtual Fieldtrips

Anza-Borrego PORTS  (Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Students)

Field trips to state parks have been a favorite educational experience for generations of California school children. However, an ever-increasing percentage of students are not afforded this traditional experience due to distance or economic and social barriers. With PORTS’ virtual fieldtrips, however, Parks are brought right to students in their classrooms!

Anza-Borrego Foundation raises funds to support the PORTS program. Through this partnership, PORTS delivers live standards-based presentations from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to classrooms, allowing students access to Park experts regardless of their geographic location or economic status. Never before in public education has such a diverse array of students had such equal access to the vast and inspiring resources of the California State Parks.

Teachers interested in arranging a videoconferencing program for their students can get more information here.
