If you’d like to request a scholarship, please reach out to emily@theabf.org with a 2-3 paragraph description about why you’d like to attend this program and your need for a scholarship. \nDescription: “Chill Hikes” is our NEW beginner’s hiking program that is FREE for members! Our first Chill Hike will take place at Borrego Palm Canyon Nature Trail, a loop trail that’s the most popular hike in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park! This rocky trail is three miles round-trip, with an elevation gain of about 700 feet, and takes a minimum of two hours. Participants will walk 1.5 miles to a palm grove to see the post-fire recovery of the palms, followed by a 1.5 mile hike back along a different route, completing the loop. Please wear hiking shoes, prepare for the sun, and bring plenty of water and snacks. We will make periodic stops for interpretation. Attendees can read more about the trail here (limited copies will be provided the day of the event).  \nDirections: Parking for the trailhead is available at the Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Parking passes will be provided to participants prior to the event. \nRegister Here\nSpace is limited! Please register in advance.   \nCancellation Policy: Cancellation requests must be received 7 days before the event if you wish to receive a refund. Refunds cannot be issued for cancellations made after the 7-day deadline.
