She retired as a Math and Science Dean after also enjoying a career as a nurse and professor.  She currently volunteers for Anza Borrego Foundation, Joshua Tree National Park Association (JTNPA), Mojave Desert Land Trust and Big Morongo Canyon Preserve. She is on the Preventative Search and Rescue team for Joshua Tree National Park and serves as secretary of the board for JTNPA.
