Anza-Borrego Desert State Park® Interpretive Activities are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Events meet at the ABDSP Visitor Center unless otherwise noted. Be aware that there is a $10 Day Use Fee at the Visitor Center.

10:00 a.m. Paleo Lecture – Sturzstroms: Large Volume, High Velocity Debris Flows     1.5 Hours
Join geologist Pat Abbott, emeritus SDSU, to discover new interpretations for Split Mountain Gorge and its world-class exposures of two huge sturzstrom deposits. We will talk about truly unique features on Friday that should leave you full of doubts. On Saturday, we will go to Split Mountain Gorge to look at the rocks and discuss their origin in the field to gain a new perspective.
