Administration Office:

587 Palm Canyon Dr. #122,

Borrego Springs, CA, 92004

Distance: 7.5 miles, ~2,000-ft elevation gain

Difficulty: moderately difficult, steep climbs with exposure, boulder scrambling

Hike Fee: $30 for ABF members / $45 for public (non-members)

Our co-leaders Mark Remy and Sicco Rood will head into the eastern part of the Santa Rosa mountains to Travelers Peak, which offers an amazing view back to the Borrego Badlands and beyond.

This is a moderately difficult off-trail hike that will require strong lungs, a strong heart, and strong legs. The route includes rock scrambling, steep climbs, and some slippery areas. There will also be hiking along ridges with exposure. This hike is not an interpretive walk, it is a strenuous, fast-paced hike intended for experienced hikers in good physical condition. Please conduct a realistic self-assessment of your readiness to hike this route with us before registering.

Leaders will plan to be back at vehicles by 3:00pm, or earlier.

Capacity: Limited to 20 hikers

Note on bad weather: If the forecast calls for heavy rain, thunderstorms, or high winds, the hike will be cancelled and rescheduled for the following day, Sunday, January 30.

COVID protocol: Masks do not need to be worn when hiking, however please bring a mask to wear when we gather for intros and if you need to go inside the ABF office for any reason. Upon arrival, all participants will be required to attest that they have not been exposed to COVID or have any of the common symptoms.

Advanced registration is required. Sign up online or call ABF at 760-767-0446 with questions or phone registration.
