Join us for the Sixth Annual Vallecito days, celebrating life on the 1860s frontier and the role of the Southern Overland trail during the Civil war. Visit with a Civil War infantry squad as they re-enact the California Column’s 1862 march from California to Texas and camp at the Vallecito Stage Station County Park throughout the weekend.

The Vallecito Stage Station will be opened to the public and filled with artifacts and displays that tell the story of this vital area and the people who lived there or passed through in the 1850s and 1860s.
This is the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War. The group will be commemorating California’s Civil War history with a variety of activities for people of all ages. Equestrians will retrace part of the route of the Great Southern Overland Trail.
Civil War re-enactors will retrace the march of the California Column that traveled on the Great Southern Overland Trail from California to New Mexico. Mountain men and military re-enactors will have camps set up for the public to tour and participate in.
This annual event is the result of a cooperative effort between California State Parks, San Diego County Parks, the Ramona Trails Association and the Backcountry Horsemen of California- San Diego Unit.
