Feathered Friends of the Anza-Borrego Desert Region (In-Person Seminar)
Calling all avian enthusiasts! Do you ever wonder which birds make Anza-Borrego Desert State Park their year-round home? Or which ones stop in the region to rest during their long cross-country routes? This lecture will highlight a few of the wonderful resident and seasonal birds that call the State Park home. Our presenter, Trevor Wimmer, will discuss the importance of the Anza-Borrego Desert region for resident and migratory birds and will also cover some tips for identification in the field. You’ll be sure to leave with a new eye for the desert’s feathered friends and some newfound knowledge to help you add more species to your bird list.

About the Presenter: Trevor Wimmer started birding when he was 8 and has kept a life list since he was 10. He’s originally from Utah but has lived in southern California since 1999 and in the desert since 2015. Professionally, he wears many hats. He is an environmental planner and gets the opportunity to moonlight as a biologist when a project requires bird surveys or nesting bird monitoring. He teaches a natural resources course at College of the Desert, leads bird tours at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage, and conducts quarterly bird surveys at the Salton Sea for California Audubon. He has traveled all over the world birding but he is passionate about desert birds, their habitat, and sharing the wonders of these feathered friends with others.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests must be received at least seven days before the event if you wish to receive a refund. Events may be cancelled due to inclement weather or low attendance with 24-hour notice, if possible. If ABF cancels a program, we will issue a full refund or credit.
