Attending a Program
Most of our programs and classes take place in the field. Participants should wear sturdy walking shoes and clothing adaptable to changes in weather. Be sure to carefully read the description and requirements for the program. Every participant is required to sign a liability release before attending a program. Some classes will require you to provide your own 4WD or high-clearance vehicle. Participants will be encouraged to carpool from the meeting location.
Most of our classes are held rain or shine. This is a natural area, and we expect participants to be prepared and dressed appropriately for all weather. Find expected weather conditions here. ABF reserves the right to change the program itinerary due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.
Dogs and Pets
Pets are not allowed on any ABF programs. Participants may not leave pets unattended in a vehicle or elsewhere. ABDSP Park Rangers may issue a citation for this.
ABF members receive discounts on programs and classes, along with other benefits! Join ABF today.
Notification must be received at least seven days before the first day of the class if you need to cancel and wish to receive a refund. A $10 cancellation fee will be retained for each registration to cover transaction costs. For cancellations made after the seven-day deadline, we cannot issue refunds for any reason. No exceptions can be made to this policy.
We understand that unforeseen or emergency circumstances may arise, but our nonprofit organization operates on a limited budget and, while inconvenient, this policy enables us to sustain our programs even with last-minute cancellations. If ABF cancels a trip, we will issue a full refund or credit.
Camping in the Park
You may make camping reservations at Borrego Palm Canyon Campground up to seven months in advance through Reserve America or by calling 1-800-444-7275. Campground fees will apply. Participants are responsible for their own accommodations, transportation and food, unless otherwise specified.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park also allows primitive and backcountry camping at no charge. The following primitive camps have vault toilets: Culp Valley, Sheep Canyon, Arroyo Salado, Yaqui Pass, Yaqui Well, Fish Creek, Blair Valley and Mountain Palm Springs. Call the ABDSP Visitor Center for additional information on camping in the Park: 760-767-4205.
