Intermediate Guided Driving Tour: Yaqui Well – Grapevine – Jasper Trail Adventure
A High-Desert Journey Through Iconic Backcountry Trails
Join us for a 24-mile adventure featuring rugged desert terrain, scenic climbs, and nearly 3,000 feet of elevation gain. This intermediate-level drive explores some of the region’s most scenic backcountry routes.
What to Expect:
- 24 miles of driving with approximately 3,000 ft of elevation gain
- Scenic climb up Grapevine beginning at Yaqui Wells
- Route through Angelina Springs Archaeological Preserve and Old Wilson Road
- Technical climb and descent on Jasper Trail before exiting to Hwy 78
- Small group experience – limited to 10 vehicles (plus lead and sweep)
Who Should Attend:
- Drivers with intermediate experience
- 4WD high-clearance vehicle owners (no AWD vehicles)
- Adventurers prepared with a full tank of gas, water, and snacks/lunch
- Members who enjoy guided desert drives with varied terrain
- Those comfortable with moderate technical sections and elevation changes

Location: Meet at the ABF store in the Mall: 587 Palm Canyon Dr. #110, Borrego Springs, CA, 92004 (next to Calico’s). The group will then caravan to the start of the route.

Tour Leaders:
Steph and Tom DiPalma have traveled extensively in the last ten years and have spent each winter “season” in Borrego Springs. They have ridden their bikes across the USA and in Europe. They enjoy cycling, hiking, going to new places, entertaining friends, and spending time with family. Anza Borrego Desert State Park is their happy place and they love giving back to the Park.
