Adventure Hike: Granite Mountain
Join the Anza-Borrego Foundation for its second Adventure Hike of the season to Granite Mountain in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park! The Granite Mountain hike is like no other, climbing more than 3200 feet in elevation, covering more than 7 miles, and taking 8 to 9 hours. The views along the way, and especially at the peak, are amazing and well worth every step.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DIFFICULT HIKE AND FOR EXPERIENCED HIKERS ONLY. After the 1st mile, the trail is often faint or nonexistent and your guides will utilize various navigation apps and existing cairns to guide the route. The vast majority of the hike is on loose sand/gravel, and at times very steep. There will also be times when we need to climb dry waterfalls or rock scramble.

Trip Leader:
Todd Linke is a resident of San Diego and just finished his 25th year in education, 23 of them with the Grossmont Union High School District. Todd grew up in Ohio and has been exploring, hiking and camping since he was a child. His earliest outdoor memories include hiking in the caves in Hocking Hills, sailing on Lake Atwood, swimming in Lake Erie, and camping at the seaside at Myrtle Beach. Todd fell in love with the desert several years ago and makes the 2-hour drive to the park every chance he gets. He has visited the park over 100 times and has hiked and driven many of its well-known and more obscure trails and roads, but as always discovering more. Todd brings his love for science and his passion for the desert to any excursion in the park.
