Desert Impressions Plant Art Workshop
Explore the plants of Anza-Borrego through art! Join us for a new, beginner-friendly workshop inspired by the unique beauty of the desert. We’ll begin with a 30-minute nature walk to discover native plants and gather inspiration from the natural materials around us. Back in the classroom, you’ll learn the basics of cyanotype printing—a sun-powered process that creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind botanical images. Then, make your artwork your own by turning your print into a patch, adding markers or embroidery to fabric cyanotypes, or experimenting with watercolor on paper prints. No prior art experience is needed, and all materials are provided—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
What to Expect:
- A 30-minute nature walk to explore and identify native Anza-Borrego plants
- An introduction to the plants and natural materials used in the workshop
- Hands-on instruction for creating your own cyanotype artwork
- Creative options to transform and embellish your artwork, including patches, embroidery, markers, and watercolors
