Description: Come spend your Friday night nerding out with Anza-Borrego Foundation! Join us for an evening lecture on geology, presented by geologist and photographer, Chuck Houser, as part of our iconic lecture series, Anza-Borrego: In Focus.
Chuck will compare several fairly recent earthquakes: the April 2010 Baja California quake which occurred on Easter Sunday, the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, and the 2010 Chile earthquake and tsunami. Chuck will describe the fault systems involved and how they are part of or similar to fault systems in Anza-Borrego, San Diego, and California.
And the icing on the cake is that Chuck is not only a geologist who can speak to these fascinating geological phenomena, but also an accomplished photographer. Chuck’s presentation will be full of photos showing surface rupture and tsunami effects. There will be refreshments and plenty of time for Q&A.
