
Intermediate Guided Driving Tour
Join us for our last guided driving adventure of the season! In this intermediate tour, we’ll visit the less-visited southern end of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park! We’ll drive from Borrego Springs to the Carrizo Badlands Overlook and then drop into Canyon Sin Nombre, stopping at a small slot canyon. We’ll continue exploring the area and even see some nearby mud caves!
Please note that the drive to Carrizo Badlands (on paved roads) takes an hour and will be an all-day adventure. The total distance off-road will be 28 miles. You must have experience driving off-road.

You will bring:
- A 4WD vehicle with high clearance (required) AC (it may be hot) and a full tank of gas
- At least 3 liters of water per person
- Lunch and snacks
- Sun protection
Date: Saturday, April 19, 2025
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (end time is approximate).
Location: Meet at the ABF store in the Mall: 587 Palm Canyon Dr. #110, Borrego Springs, CA, 92004 (next to Calico’s). The group will then caravan to the start of the route. Alternate meeting locations are available for those traveling from San Diego or El Centro.

Non-members: $65/vehicle
ABF members: $55/vehicle
Students: $25/vehicle
ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANTS IN VEHICLE:
Additional general participant: $20
Student participant: $10
Children under 5: FREE

About the Tour Leaders:
Steph and Tom DiPalma have traveled extensively in the last ten years and have spent each winter “season” in Borrego Springs. They have ridden their bikes across the USA and in Europe. They enjoy cycling, hiking, going to new places, entertaining friends, and spending time with family. Anza Borrego Desert State Park is their happy place and they love giving back to the Park. Steph is on the Board of Trustees for ABF and Tom is an avid supporter.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation requests must be received at least seven days before the first day of the event if you wish to receive a refund. Events may be cancelled due to unsafe weather, road conditions, or low attendance, with 24-hour notice, if possible. If ABF cancels a program, we will issue a full refund or credit.
