Anza-Borrego Night Hike

Join us for a peaceful moonlit hike through the desert, where wide-open skies, rugged terrain, and the quiet beauty of the landscape come alive after dark. 

What to Expect: 

• Under the glow of the moon and stars, we’ll experience the sights and sounds of the desert at night—from shifting shadows across the landscape to the subtle movement of nocturnal wildlife. 
• We’ll hike approximately 2-3 miles roundtrip across natural terrain. 
• Along the trail, you might see nocturnal creatures that thrive after dark, such as scorpions, bats, and owls. 
• This easy-paced night hike will be led by a wilderness first responder, ensuring a safe and fun experience for all ages.

• Nature lovers interested in experiencing the desert in a new and unique way. 
• Stargazers and those who appreciate wide, dark skies. 
• Hikers in moderate physical condition, comfortable walking several miles over sand or dirt trails.

Location: Meet at the ABF store at 587 Palm Canyon Dr. #110, Borrego Springs, CA 92004 (in The Mall next to Calico’s). From there we’ll carpool/caravan to the trailhead (location to be determined).

Hike Leader: 

Matt Nagy is a San Diego native who had the unique experience of growing up across the world. Before graduating high school, he lived in five different countries, including the USA. His global travels have given him the opportunity to see much of the planet, but without a doubt, San Diego County (especially Anza Borrego) remains his favorite place. In his free time, Matt enjoys long hikes, bike rides, and live music. When he has a few weeks off, he embarks on extended adventures such as river trips, bikepacking, or backpacking. Having spent many months under the stars, Matt is always planning his next adventure. He is excited to explore and appreciate the wonders of Anza Borrego with others, creating unforgettable memories along the way.
