Description: Join Anza-Borrego Foundation for a guided 4-Wheel Drive/All-Wheel Drive adventure through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park! Our group leader, ABF’s Land Program Administrator, Lino Morales, will guide us on a beginner’s excursion focused on the private parcels of land within the State Park’s boundaries that have been purchased by ABF from willing sellers. ABF then donates this land to the State Park to create a more continuous landscape that can be preserved for generations to come.
Participants will learn more about Anza-Borrego Foundation’s Land Conservation Program and why it is an important tool, while viewing first-hand a few important sites that have been purchased for the Park. This event is a perfect first exposure to driving on dirt roads for those who’ve always wanted to try it, as you’ll learn proper techniques and tips for responsible driving on loose dirt roads. Please note that 4WD or AWD vehicles are required. Participants should bring adequate water and snacks/food for the tour and plan to spend short periods walking around at tour stops.

Registration is limited to 15 vehicles, so participants are encouraged to arrange their own carpools. Route details will be shared after registration.
About the Trip Leader: Meet Lino Morales, the Land Program Administrator at the Anza-Borrego Foundation. Born in San Bernardino and raised in the Mojave Desert, Lino has called the San Diego area home since 2001. He has always felt connected to nature and the outdoors, and since 2017, Anza-Borrego Desert has been his sanctuary.
In his role, Lino manages land conservation efforts through land acquisitions, transferring invaluable properties to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park for preservation. Over the past few years, he’s developed an interest in off-roading, a passion that was further ignited by ABF’s Guided Off-Road Tour in 2023. The experience has enhanced his knowledge and confidence on the trails. Lino is thrilled to align his career with his passion for the desert and is eager to share his expertise with others. Join him on an off-road tour to explore the stunning landscapes of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and gain insights about ABF’s land program.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation requests must be received at least seven days before the first day of the event if you wish to receive a refund. Events may be cancelled due to unsafe weather, road conditions, or low attendance, with 24-hour notice, if possible. If ABF cancels a program, we will issue a full refund or credit.
